auto resize image in gallery

i know thumbnail can be the good solution for resize images, but my mind is how can resize images on the main image page (when click on the thumbnail images, the link you go which i said main image page :( )
have anyone help?

my mind is: the defaul size of image in the gallery can be lager than the width of your skin.
How can auto resize it when it larger than...

why dont you click on the image to a popup instead of keeping it in the window...

or even different why dont you edit the images before you upload them...
