As a user of subdreamer it will be natural that you will want to take advantage of the forum skinning facility. I have been using subdreamer for well over a year, and I had never applied a forum skin. Having built a new site, I installed the ever popular phpBB2, set everything up, hit the "skin my forum" button, the screen flicked and it appeared that the forum was skinned. Alas to my surprise, nothing happened. The reason I was surprised is that it was the first time I've pressed a button in SD and not got the expected result.

It is easy to jump to conclusions and assume that the skin creator may have made a mistake. Of course this can not be ruled out, but first have another look when you hit 'skin my forum', for a brief moment you may see an alert, advising you to chmod a couple of files. This is very easy to miss, but vital knowledge.

For phpBB2 it advises that you should

chmod 'overall_footer.tpl’ and ‘overall_header.tpl’ in the associated phpBB template directory to 776.

Once done it works like a dream.

I am sure this information is available in a read me file, or the manual. But being human, and very familiar to SD I just assumed it would work.

There may be variations of this requirement to chmod files from one forum to another; perhaps other users would like to add to this. :D

Sure sorry, economic on detail there... the skin is a visually modified version of mooreblack by abcohen. You can find the site at www.plateruena.com, it also makes great use of adcohens Iframe wrapper, which works brilliantlly... so nice one abc :-)
