Hey guys..

What do you think of this? i know it hasnt been done yet, and i think its going to be a bloody goood idea.

So what is it? well how hard is it to list everyone that works for you? or people that you need to contact in one plugin?? well this should be great....

I think to start with we will have the following.. when i get better at writing code we will add more.

Name Position Phone/email??

Then the user will choose which person or dept they wanna contact.

It will then show in a table...

IMAGE (maybe a photo of them) --- later version i think

Name:
Position:
Department:
Division:

Phone:
Fax:
Address:
Email:

It will also have somewhere the abilitiy to show... Date Created, Date Updated
It will also show the ability to EMAIL and/or PRINT

Ok... features at the moment that i have implemented.

The contact list manager will list in a table, all the contacts online. You can choose which colums to be displayed, and all these colums are able to be sorted a/z and the row colours alternate and also different for the top color

and as with my other plugin

The different colums are...

Name,
Position,
Department,
Division,
Address,
Phone Number,
Fax Number,
Mobile Number,
Email Address,
Photo,

Both this plugin and also the search plugin, you can choose which colums you wish to be displayed, and then the user can click on the NAME, POSITION, DEPARTMENT and also DIVISION and it will show that individual row.

So..theoretically, you could just list the Department | Phone Number | Email if you didnt have specific contacts etc - you the webmaster can decide.

Im sure other people will want more fields, thats all i can think of at the moment, anyone got any other important ones they would like added?

your missing a , (comma) after you update phone number and you'll be missing another , after fax number and mobile number too... :)

I wasnt looking at the code but the SQL error it produced on your site sooo i think its when one goes and updates vaules back into the SQL statement.

Ive included the website URL field and also just a general Other textbox field, because im sure some people will want to list roles or responsibilities or even times and days to contact them.

The photo (well more like an image) space, will just be a field where you can put the full url path to the image file. Maybe later on ill link it to the image manager in subdreamer atm where you can broswe the files on your site. But i think this will do.

The ability to add the colums to the search and also contact list tabless have been amended to allow for the Photo, Website and also Other field :)

Please uninstall and also delete the old versions of this - apoligies i didnt do an upgrade for them..

email/print function, comments, number of views, and also image uploads will be in the next version in a few months.

If there are no problems with this then this will become final. SQL update, and also search lanuguage suggestions have been fixed.

Nice, seems to be working okay so far for me. One BIG item though: For phone numbers, there is no room to add an extention (e.g. 555-555-5555 x205). Can you increase this field size?

And while you are at it, perhaps add a country code field as well. It can always be set to default to your country but sure makes it easier for those with international connections.

I guess our telephone system in australia isnt that complicated at all, im suprised no one has jumped up and down to call it a cell phone instead of mobile phone.

I dont use int and ext that much but correct me if im wrong...

Is this normal ? Have I forget something to read ? It would be nice to have a list in
the Admin Panel like the News Plugin or something have to delete or update the Contacts !

contacts not showing in the admin list? weird?

The contact list's row headings are already set up as sort az za links. You mgiht not able to notice this with the row colors and the hyperlink colors.

Im not sure why the contact arnt displaying down the bottom anymore. I will investigate. Im working on fixing all the plugins at the moment, but work is taking a pirority :(

ok, so those people who have made me work extra hard in puttin in the country code field and also the extension listen up....

youll need to answer these questions so that a new beta release is ready by the 7th! I have added

1. Country Code field for the phone
2. Extension field for the phone
3. Country code fields for the fax
4. extension field for the fax

I have not added anything extra to the mobile? if you want something you will have to post back asap

In relation to the sort field for the phone and fax. Currently it will sort via the phone nubmer - that is excluding the cc and the extension. Would you like to sort via the whole phone number then cc & number & ext? This goes for the fax as well?

Hello,

I am not sure if someone already made any suggestions like the ones I stated below, but it would be good to include:

The Address as a separate fields to populate the data into such as Address1, Address2, City, State, Zip Code, and Country. When someone runs a search then you can show the the complete address info on block.

Also, you might want to create the plugin to allow the admin the option to pick the fields they want others to search by instead of having pre-set field to perform the search.

Another one, having the option to search by A to Z listing that would be great.

Before I was looking around for an Address Book plugin, but no one seemed to have created one yet, so I am glad you have started to create a similar pluggin as to the one you are creating.

The plugin is coming along nicely, and you can see by the screen shots i have added, the "submit contact" and also "comments" and both are controllable via the usergroup settings!

There is also another feature i like - number of contacts found etc - this is optional in the settings.

cant wait till the 7th! remember this is still a beta, and some fields may change (but the update works like a charm!)

The contact list search is in a different plugin - p118 which i am developing cocurrently. There is a beta out for that as well.

It is set up to search each field, and can only search one field at a time, and displays it in a controlled table - by controlled i mean, you can choose which colums to display. You can pick and choose - so yes, name and phone number, or only division, or just the photo? up to the admin to decide.

The contact list plugin has controlled colums as well, you can choose which ones to show and not to show. I doubt a script could pick these emails as they are generated from a database only on page view.

All I wanted is the phone extension, everything else is gravy :) It all looks great so far.

Just copy and override the existing files, upload, and upgrade - NB "Contact Name" column will drop from the table because i have split it into 2 fields - first name and last name.

yes, ill let the admin choose the default display order in the next release. it will be a few weeks.

When I crawled on this page, I thought all the dev is complete by now. But it got stuck somewhere I guess.
May be you guys were waiting for me to be here.
To tell you my situation, I had been posting for contact system all over the forums I knew, to searching and installing lot many from sourceforge. But as things stand I am still....

Now I just installed the system and it looks absulutely promising to me.


Now I read all thread and you guys have added lot of fields, that another great direction. I sincerely expects one thing from this mod: Give me options for creating as many custom fields as I want from date field, to number field, to automatic increment ID code, to Link to many photographs, to lot of customized fields as I want. Actually I had been looking for complete database management of officers, which may include thier gradation list, and updation of their previous postings sorted data wise into the profile, linking of family page of the officer into the contact system, creation of groups in my case they will be services, like police, administration, postal, customs e.t.c. and ability to sort them in that groups...(Something like department)

A little far off thing: A module something like support desk, where in a guest or member post a comment and the one who is listed gets an email reminder to visit and respond to them.

The search crietrion to have multiple fields to select and search.

I use IBP, and there they do have custom profile fields, and I did had created all these fields, and with &#39;toggle more options&#39;, everything can be done to what all I have listed here.

Hoever one drawback, is that the officer/member need to be the member of our forum. Here in this system I need not have an officer as member, but he can be listed and contacted: a straight contact database, with lot of customization.

One point of time I think I will need to sort them according to seniority in service, and to know who is going to retire this month (a custo made script) which will be based on specific criterion.


I don&#39;t know all this is possible now or not. THis plugin is not moving.


If it cannot be done, can sombody guide me where can I find this system, even though not integrated with SD or IPB? Will be a great help. :unsure:

1) I&#39;d like to not display the address field when the contact is clicked on - is this possible easily? I have data in the field that I don&#39;t want to display.

2) Any way of taking all the links off apart from on the contact name on the main contact list display?

edit: I have changed the link to the page to index.php?categoryid=21&p117_sorttype=c_namez

maybe worthwhile an option in the settings for future releases? Only an idea.


edit 2:

Possible bug.... When sorted by name, and I have it to show 20 contacts per page, when I click next page, it then does not sort by name, and reverts back to default view.

I really love this plugin for my High School Alumni Association. We are begining to use it to keep track of lost and found alumni members.

I am unable to get the display settings to exclude certain columns. They are displayed whether or not I select yes or no.

Can you advise me?

I was hoping this would get a bit more attention ...but at least I am working with it now...I love what I see so far...

One thing that I see is, when you click on a contact name...that name does not appear in the "detail" view...I think it should be up at the top in an h2 format...

Is there another source for p117_contactlist.zip v1.03. The one on the beetlesdomain site gives an error that it is not a valid archive. (I've tried multiple times and on different pc's).
