Hey everyone.
I had this amazing idea at work today, apart from that i also work in HR, so im very very familiar with this subject.
Positions Available Plugin or you could call it Emploment or Job Listings! many uses etc.
Our Employment page on our website was just text, and i look at other companies and also professional listings and they always had them catorgised and listed in a particular order
So... I am thinking 4 plugins
113 - Positions Available
114 - Positions Available Search
115 - Positions Available Archive
116 - Latest Positions Available
Here is my idea for each plugin, i am not the BEST coder, but i can change and edit other peoples code with ease. I have studied and also changed the search, archive plugins.
113 - Positions Available
------------------------------------------
Wow. This is going to be the basics to start with, and then with more ideas and more people workin on it, we can make it bigger, and hopefully, will be able also to submit jobs online in future versions.
To start with...
This plugin will LIST in a table all the positions available (job status OPEN and also CLOSED) There will also be another status code called FILLED. Why? because users do check to see if they are still too late to apply for jobs etc.. in the future when we get used to the plugin, you can add a APPLY NOW field to the Open one, a CKECK YOUR APPLICATION STATUS with the closed one, and maybe a SORRY YOU SUCK to the filled. NAh..lol
ok so the table will list the following fields horizontal
Job title, Applications Open, APplications Close, Application Status
You will be able to sort those headings, much like how the event manager is set up with the sorting
Once clicked on the job you want to view. it will list the following in a table.
Job title
Applications Open (DATE)
Applications Close (DATE)
Application Status (coded field - one of 3 - open, closed, filled)
Job Description
Contact
Application details
Attachments (This is going to be hard to implement i think? lol)
Back to Job listing
And also list the follwoing.... EMAIL and/or PRINT
114 - Positions Available Search
------------------------------------------
This plugin is based on the search engine plugin - which searchs the news article listing. This is quite easy code to change and also impliment into this solution.
It will search through both the Job title, and also Job desctription.
115 - Positions Available Archive
-----------------------------------------
This plugin is based on the news archive plugin. It will list in a table all the position filled plugins (remember i said there are 3 status's of plugins - OPEN, CLOSED, FILLED) anyone got any other suggestions?
It will just list it in a table
JOB TITLE APP OPEN APP CLOSED APPLICATION STATUS
Most likely sorted by the date closed, then by title? or maybe ill just let the user sort them automatically??
116 - Latest Positions Available
----------------------------------------
I know that visitiors to sites, dont always go to every page to look at it. This plugin is based on the latest news plugin and would display how many jobs the admin set etc. Much like the latest news
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions? Or would like to help? im all ears.
I think this will be a hit with most people. Most clients like to have their jobs listed on their sites. So this is going to be a must.
All ideas to this plugin please. Hopefully I can get some up to play with in the next few days

Yeah, i thought of that, (hehe) but i dont think that will be impememted to start with, would have to be a later version.
I will have to look at all the changes that happened in the new download manager to see what i can pull out of there.
Also a count down to when the job closes would have to be in a later version. But ill leave a space to show everyone the plan.
im really happy about this plugin looks really good for my first effort.

Good point.
Ok changed that. And i have also changed the plugins so that 1. The position manager plugin must be installed and in a category before the arvhice or the search can be used - they will just say - "please install bla bla before this one can work"
and also which is a great idea - if there are no jobs available online etc, it will just show - "There are no positions available at the moment. Please check back soon"
I will have the updated plugins soon.

Updates....
Ok, i have updated the plugins so that there needs to be at least one job in the plugin, or else it will display "there are currently no jobs available". I ahve also cleaned up the language, and a bug on the previous and next page.
There is still some wrong code, when it displays the job - missing the application details fields?? hmmm....
Play with it, have some fun!
Just upload and upgrade over the plugin

im in a bit of dilemia about the latest positions available plugin..
I am more of an opinion now that it should be........the next one that closes
because with the positions available plugin you can set a open date for a position or job for the future, so if you have a latest poisiton available its really useless.
What do other people thing? Latest Position online or something more on the lines of next job close date?? more of a countdown?

most recent postings -- with a X setting to count back from todays date for the last X postings... or if none display Y statement (with a Y statement option)

One thing I have been wondering about for some time.
Is it difficult to use the translated verbs again in the admin panel???
This would be of much use for plugins like this.
I translate allmost all my admin interface.

Ok well here it is.
Online Recruitment Manager, BETA versio 0.1
It will allow users and also admin to submit jobs online. It will allow users to apply for various jobs, via an online job application form to upload a resume, cover letter, selection criteria. Admin will be able to manage the available jobs and close off on a particular day. The online recruitment manager will show the available jobs in a table listed with various colums, and the table colours can be changed via the admin planel. The position details and other text areas are using the wysiwyg editor, and the online application forms utilize the VVC.
REMEMBER IT IS IN BETA AND HAS ERRORS - USE WISELY ON A LIVE SITE
[attachmentid=415]
Still working on implementing...
+ application form attachment errors - can someone check my code :S
+ application form autoresponder to user and admin - still to implement
+ email the job to others - still to add
+ print the job - still to add
+ attachments via admin - still to add
+ general formatting layout
+ countdown to when jobs close - automatic cut off - still to add
+ status problems - can someone check my code
+ ability for users to add jobs - still to add
+ rss syndication - still to add
Overall i think i have done pretty well so far - as it has turned out to be a quite massive plugin

Will it have color options, centering options, options for graphics or do you just post stuff like a news article in SD either in WYSWYG or HTML?

awesome, you should go into the admin, and start trying to add jobs, advertisers and look at all the settings.
I will try putting up the full version so you can see the front end ability to upload jobs and the back end order list/history and payment revenue.
