I like the way SD uses the same user database as phpBB and I wanted to do the same for a wiki. I looked all over for this and was unable to find anything on how to get mediawiki to use the same user database as SD/phpBB.

I realize this is not the place to talk about phpBB and MediaWiki but SD is what inspired me to write this. So I want to share. I figure someone else could be looking for the same solution. This might also help get other people started on intergrading the wiki auth into other forum software.

THIS LINK IS NO GOOD (http://uber.leetphp.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_To:_Make_MediaWiki_use_phpBB%2 7s_user_database).

Please see post below.

Well there was nothing on that page.....IMO, here is what I think..might it be possible you used the code from SD to figure it out...then learned that this might be against Ziad's copyright? Just a thought. Seems a bit weird of a post is all....sorry if I'm wrong.

Like Terminator said, there's nothing on that page. I'm closing this thread.

Received a pm from the topic starter requesting his thread to be unlocked. (he said he entered the wrong url).

Digitalroot please don't start a fight with terminator (after reading the information on your website I think thats where this is going) or the thread will be locked again. Keep in mind that terminator ended his reply with 'sorry if i'm wrong'. Thank you.

Thank you for unlocking my post. This forum removes periods from then end of URLs.

As I also posted this on the main mediaWiki site. It's URL might be more forum friendly.

You must still download the Auth_phpBB.php code from my site at

I began researching integration with mediawiki last week. I have been reading the Auth_phpBB.php with great interest.

I thought I would ask if any of you have looked at "skinning" or IFraming the wiki to make it look more like an integral part of a Subdreamer site?

There is an interesting mod for phpBB2 which allow you to create references in the forum - and I think SD+MW+phpBB2 would make a absolute killer combo.

Come to think of it - it might be interesting to create a references mod too, to avoid site internal references in the forum posts to open in a new target window.
