View Full Version : NEW link directory plugin
I really need a good link directory plugin. The one that comes standard with SD is way too basic for any site with more than 15 links IMO.
There are a ton of free scripts of hotscripts.com that could be used, but I have no idea how to create such a plugin. I really need something that will display links alfabetically and create ancors or seperate pages for each. Also would like to be able to have "Sponsored Links" at the top of all links.
If anyone could do this for me, or provide guidance it would be much appriciated!

Does no one else really need a good link directory? I would have thought this would be a major issue with some, but do not see any plugins, or mods out for it.

SD uses a category structure. I would think you could modify the core plugin to get what you are looking for.
Displaying links alphabetically would be a simple sort of the database query by Title. Sponsored links could be acheived by adding a new field to the table and a setting in the admin settings panel where you can set a link as sponsored or unsponsored. You can then modify the query to sort alphabetically and by type (sponsored or unspondered) and display the sponsored links at the top of the page.
I'm writing this out incase someone wants to try it. Sorry, but right now I'm too busy with my own work to help you out. Maybe in the future if you still haven't found a solution.

Thanks! Yeah I do not have any programming experience. Hopefully someone will get the urge to do it someday!

I'll be sure to check back when I get a chance to see if you've gotten anyone to help you. Do you need it for a client?
